The great human dilemma is that there is safety in what we’ve come to know and expect, even when it is an abusive expectation….So the starving learn to bow before dictators, children learn to expect being tripped, middle-school students learn to expect a behind-the-back attack, couples learn to interrupt each other with disdain, husbands expect below-the-knee hits from old doors yet to be closed, colleagues learn to sub-group and talk about the perceived misfits, mystics expect religions to exclude and isolate them.
